Mission: The mission of the Schuyler County SWCD is to conserve and enhance the natural resources of Schuyler County through education, planning and implementation. What We Do: Soil and Water Conservation Districts are located in each county and borough throughout New York State. They coordinate and implement natural resource and environmental programs at the local level in cooperation with state and federal agencies such as the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service. Since 1940 the Schuyler County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD or the District) has been working to address natural resource issues in Schuyler County such as water quality, soil erosion and nutrient management. This website will highlight many of the District programs and provide useful information for Schuyler County residents about our County and our region’s natural resources.
